TL;DR
- Extra particulars concerning the Tensor G4 chip, set to look within the Pixel 9 collection, have leaked.
- It’s believed that the chipset will undertake the Cortex-X4, A720, and A520 CPU cores.
- The leaker provides that the Tensor G4 shall be made on Samsung’s 4nm course of.
Google is about to announce the Pixel 8 collection subsequent month, and we’re anticipating these telephones to be powered by the Tensor G3 processor. Nevertheless, we’ve already seen our first Tensor G4 leak this week, and it appears like extra particulars concerning the Pixel 9’s processor have emerged right this moment.
Leaker Tech_Reve claimed on X that the Tensor G4 shall be geared up with the newly introduced Cortex-X4, Cortex-A720, and Cortex-A520 CPU cores. They added that the chipset shall be manufactured on the identical Samsung “4LPP+ course of (sic)” because the Exynos 2400, ostensibly referring to the agency’s second-generation 4nm course of.
Tensor G4 CPU: A smart improve?
There’s no phrase on the prec ise CPU format simply but, nevertheless it nonetheless appears like a logical improve over the Tensor G3. The Pixel 8 chip is alleged to have one Cortex-X3 core, 4 Cortex-A715 cores, and 4 little Cortex-A510 cores. In saying so, the Pixel 9 vary and Tensor G4 will probably be launched after Arm’s latest CPU cores are revealed. So there’s a superb likelihood that the Tensor G4 received’t have the newest and best Android CPU tech for very lengthy.
It’s additionally fascinating to see Google seemingly utilizing a second-generation Samsung 4nm design for the 2024 Tensor chip. The Tensor G3 is believed to be manufactured by Samsung on a 4nm course of, nevertheless it’s unclear whether or not this can be a first- or second-generation design. Both means, we hope Samsung has ironed out the manufacturing kinks that resulted within the vanilla Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip being a little bit of a disappointment.
In any other case, Tech_Reve reiterated their earlier declare that the Tensor G4 will follow the Tensor G3’s Arm Immortalis-G715 GPU. So that you may need to mood your efficiency expectations in video games.
