Google’s useful Magnifier app is now obtainable for Pixels

Google had a lot to indicate off at its Pixel 8 collection launch occasion, and one of many extra sensible options it introduced was the Magnifier app. We didn’t have to attend lengthy for a launch because it’s now obtainable for Pixel house owners.

The app gives a variety of useful options in comparison with simply zooming in along with your digicam. This consists of brightness and distinction changes, and a variety of filters for improved legibility.

Magnifier app: What’s it like to make use of?

Google’s Play Retailer itemizing confirms that it really works on the Pixel 5 or later. And the app labored simply fantastic on my private Pixel 7 Professional.

Utilizing the Magnifier app is a reasonably simple affair too, as you zoom in on the specified textual content and hit the shutter key to seize the picture. From right here, you may apply the aforementioned changes, zoom in even additional, or use Google Lens (for copying the textual content, listening to it, and extra).

In saying so, you may solely zoom in fastened increments (specifically 1x, 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x, 24x, 30x) quite than having full management over the zoom vary. Moreover, our personal testing means that the Pixel 7 Professional’s 5x telephoto digicam solely kicks in from 8x quite than getting used at 4x.

It’s value noting that this captured picture isn’t saved to your telephone by default (not like capturing a zoomed-in picture by way of your digicam app). Nevertheless, you may select to manually save or share it in case you’d like.

We’re nonetheless joyful to see Google bringing one other neat accessibility characteristic to Android. This joins the likes of Stay Caption, the Android Accessibility Suite, Stay Transcribe, and extra. You possibly can obtain the Magnifier app by way of the button beneath.
